Often it is not your local station but the cyber police, and the bank cannot release the money until the police tell it to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"lead wp-block-paragraph\">Below is how a cyber police hold works, how to find out which unit placed it, what to prepare, and how the release letter gets to your bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In short<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list glance\"><li><strong>Who freezes:<\/strong> the police, after a complaint about a transfer that reached your account. The bank only follows the order.<\/li><li><strong>First step:<\/strong> get the details from the bank in writing: who placed the hold, when, and the case number if they have it.<\/li><li><strong>What clears it:<\/strong> a release letter from the unit that opened the case, after you explain the transfer with documents.<\/li><li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the unit and the bank.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why cyber police freeze accounts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When someone reports an online scam, the police trace where the money went and order the banks to hold the receiving accounts. Your account can be on that list even if you did nothing wrong: after a P2P trade, an exchange for a friend or a payment for goods. Thailand\u2019s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) handles many of these cases, and local police stations open others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls preload=\"metadata\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unblockpro.asia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/67.-How-unlock-Thai-bank-account-if-cyber-police-block-it_2.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bank cannot remove a police hold by itself. Calling the hotline again and again will not change it; only the police unit that placed the hold can lift it. <a href=\"\/en\/police-hold-thai-bank-account-release-letter\/\">How the release letter works<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1. Find out who holds your account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ask the bank.<\/strong> Ask the branch for a printout or a letter that shows the hold, the date and the police unit. Some banks give it at the counter, others only after a written request.<\/li><li><strong>Check every case.<\/strong> One account can have several holds from different stations. The cyber police and the 1441 hotline can help you see whether there are other cases on your account.<\/li><li><strong>Find the officer.<\/strong> You need the name and contact of the investigating officer. Without them, nothing moves.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2. Prepare the documents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officers ask for proof, not stories. Bring originals and copies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Passport, visa page and the latest entry stamp<\/li><li>Official bank statement for the period of the disputed transfer, stamped by the bank<\/li><li>Screenshots of the deal: the chat, the P2P order, an invoice or a receipt, with the other person\u2019s name<\/li><li>Proof of where your own money came from, if you received or sent large amounts. <a href=\"\/en\/why-you-must-explain-your-source-of-funds-to-thai-banks\/\">Source of funds documents<\/a><\/li><li>A short written explanation, ideally in Thai, that matches the documents<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police officers work in Thai. A clear Thai translation of your explanation and screenshots often decides how fast the officer can act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3. Give your statement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Usually you need to come in person and give a statement. Sometimes the complainant also has to agree, especially if they want their money back. Answer briefly, stick to the documents and do not guess. If you do not speak Thai, bring an interpreter: mistakes in a statement are hard to correct later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4. The release letter and the bank<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the officer is satisfied, the unit sends a release letter to the bank. It can go online or by post, and banks sometimes say they have not received it. Keep a copy, get the reference number and check with the branch. After the bank receives the letter, it often takes about one to two weeks before you can use the money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Common mistakes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Waiting for the bank to fix it: it cannot<\/li><li>Going to the wrong police station<\/li><li>Coming without a Thai explanation or a bank statement<\/li><li>Telling a different story to the bank and to the police<\/li><li>Paying someone online who promises to unfreeze the account for a fee<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Real cases<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Chinese couple, KBank.<\/strong> The account had been frozen for about two years. We went with the client to the cyber police in Bangkok, and the officer agreed to lift the hold. The bank then said it had not received the notice, so we arranged a call between the bank and the officer, and the letter was sent again by post. The money was released about two months after the police visit.<\/li><li><strong>Three holds on one account.<\/strong> A client on a DTV visa had a hold from a Bangkok station. Through the 1441 hotline and the cyber police we found two more cases. A hold can stay for months or even years if nobody acts. In some cases the officer can release the account after your statement and documents. In others the complainant wants their money back, and an agreement closes the case faster.
